You Can Do It with Heather H.

Heather has created three amazing BACK TO SCHOOL projects with some creative flair!!!  Make sure and leave some LOVE and comment because we will be offering some BLOG CANDY throughout the month from the comments left for our amazing DESIGN TEAM!

Good morning! Heather here from Houses Built of Cards - to share a few cards with you using the new stamp set for August - LOVE the way this set gives a little nod to back to school, but a little less traditional!!!

The first thing that caught my eye in this set, was that fun "smartie" stamp set:

I created a watercolor wash for the background, then stamped and fussy cut out those candies - I just left them white and attached them to the front panel, then added a layer of Glossy Accents to make them look more like real candies! Added some American Crafts pattern paper, a pre-made bow, and some gold thread.

Next up, I actually raided my scrap bin to put this card together:

Stamped and fussy cut again, then heat embossed the sentiment on a strip of brown cardstock. Attached the sentiment panel and the pencils with foam adhesive.

And finally - I was coloring up this sweet little image, when all of a sudden it occurred to me that it would be fun to make an interactive card!

I used some distress ink to ground the image, then stamped, colored with Copics, and fussy cut out the image before attaching with only a brad - that way it totally rocks back and forth! Fun, right? Hippo down:

And hippo up:

Also added some Basic Grey pattern paper and some jute twine.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Have a wonderful day!

You Can Do it with Jo

GET READY TO DROOL!!!  Jo has some very creative projects to share with you today!  Make sure and leave some LOVE and comment because we will be offering some BLOG CANDY throughout the month from the comments left for our amazing Design Team!"**

Good morning! It's me Jo, sharing my projects using You Can Do It. How fun is this set?

Here we go!

Card 1: You Are #1
I made this cute baby boy birthday card. I joined the "You Are" and the "#1" images and stamped them on a die cut onsie. I wrapped a brown satin ribbon with a button for the center around the card. I used soft blues and brown for my color choices. I pretty much stuck to this color theme for all three projects.

Card 2: You Can Do It
For my second card, it has a gift card on the front. The card is a school theme using the "You Can Do It" sentiment. Just a little gift card for a bit of motivation for your first day of school. I had a notebook paper embossing folder and adhered it with dimentional pop dots. Using the "Pencil" image from the set, I paper pieced it 3x with patterned paper and inserted them in the gift card pocket to one side. It kind of makes it look like a pocket protector. I wrapped some twine and added a button around the pocket.

Project 3: One Smart Cookie
Lastly, this is not a card but I made a cute little cookie gift box. I just got this small box die and wanted to use it right away. The sentiment "One Smart Cookie" was perfect! I cut out a little banner for the sentiment and placed it on top of a rosette die. A brown satin ribbon is tied around the box for the lid closure. Cutest presentation for one cookie, would you eat it? LOL.

Those are my projects for you and I hope you were inspired to craft today! Keep coming back for more crafty inspiration from our Designers!

Enjoy the Journey with Amanda

Happy Friday, stampers!  Amanda here today with some fun cards using July's Enjoy the Journey stamp set.  This set is so fun and versatile!  You can make cute cards or serious cards, fancy cards or CAS cards.

As soon as I saw the VW Beetle icon I knew it would pair perfectly with a sheet of tie dye Duck Tape that has been floating around in my craft room for a while.  I adhered a strip of Duck Tape to my card base and heat embossed the car in white.  Confession: This card is my second draft.  I originally heat embossed the sentiment directly on the Duck Tape but it melted the tape and shriveled up.  Oops.  For the second card, I embossed the sentiment on a strip of vellum and adhered it over the tape.  Much better.

Inspired by the corner protectors on the middle suitcase, I cut a 1.5" circle into quarters and stitched them to the card base to give the card a suitcase-like feel.  I kept the card simple by stamping the suitcases and sentiment with a coordinating brown ink.

Rather than use the sneakers from the Enjoy the Journey set, I used the high heel stamp from the Age is a Stage mini set to create this CAS card.  Don't those shoes look fabulous in red? I positioned the high heels to look as though they were walking up a set of stairs.  I added a striped border to add some visual interest.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Enjoy the Journey with Heather P.

Hi, everyone! Heather P. here with three projects featuring the new July set, Enjoy the Journey.

For my first card, I started with a cream card base, and adhered a piece of gray striped paper to the card front.  Next, I stamped the lighthouse image from the set in versamark, then heat embossed it with white powder before die cutting it into a circle shape.  I then stamped the sentiment onto a strip of vellum in versamark, then heat embossed it as well with white powder.  I adhered the yellow circle to a strip of aqua paper with pop dots, then loosely attached the vellum sentiment (securing it only to the back of the aqua paper).  The entire panel was then attached to the card front with pop dots, and to finish up, I embellished with green enamel dots.

For my second card, I again started with a cream colored card base, then adhered a piece of polka dot paper to the front.  I then cut an angular piece of gray paper, and stamped it with the shoe image in versamark before heat setting with clear embossing powder.  Once that cooled, I stamped the sentiment with versamark, and heat embossed with white powder.  To finish up, I adhered the panel to the card front with pop dots and embellished with aqua enamel dots.

For my last card, I started with a piece of yellow card stock, then repeat stamped the stacked luggage image in versamark before heat embossing with white powder.  Next, I cut a strip of light gray card stock, trimmed the ends into a banner shape, then stamped the sentiment in a darker gray ink.  I then adhered the heat embossed panel and sentiment to the card front with pop dots.  To finish up, I embellished with green enamel dots.

Well, that wraps it up for me, but be sure to come back on the 25th for more Avocado Arts inspiration! :)
